Who are the biggest divas? Where are the biggest rivalries? How many hours do people really practice? Ever wondered what goes on at one of the world's best-known arts education institutions? Here is your chance to ask local Hong Kong and international Juilliard students what you have always really wanted to know. Current students of one of the most famous music conservatories in the world will give one hour to answer questions about what life is really like at this mythical institution.
As an active performer in New York City, Ieong Cheng Katy Ho has performed at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Juilliard's Paul, Morse Halls and Peter Jay Sharp Theater. Besides, Katy also performed in various concert halls in Germany and Austria while she attended das Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in summer 2012. In addition, Katy was a participant in Heifetz International Summer Institute, National Music Festival and Juilliard Chamber Festival. Katy is a fourth-year undergraduate with Miss Heidi Castleman and Mr. Misha Amory for the Bachelor of Music for viola performance.
Olivia Mok began her violin and piano studies at the age of six. From a young age, Olivia toured and performed internationally with the Yip's Children's Choir and the Hong Kong Children's Symphony Orchestra. She left Hong Kong for studies in the U.S. and is an undergraduate violin performance major at Juilliard under the tutelage of Sir Lewis Kaplan. During 2010 and 2011, Olivia made her debut at the National Center for the Performing Arts and the Hong Kong Cultural Center. During summer 2012, she co-founded a non-profit, youth-initiated musical organization Project Discover, along with her brother Marcus. In her spare time, Olivia also composes, plays and sings jazz and contemporary music at local music hubs around Hong Kong.
Kathryn Peterson studies French horn performance with Dr. David Wakefield. Originally from Lamesa, Texas, co-founded The T.R.I.O. Project, an online music outreach program during her first year at Juilliard. Kathryn was recently awarded a Teaching Fellowship in Juilliard's Music Theory and Analysis department and a Morse Teaching Artist Fellowship for the 2012-2013 academic year. She has performed with a variety of music ensembles including The Juilliard Orchestra and has worked with conductors including Alan Gilbert, James Levine, and Yannick Nezet-Seguin. Kathryn will graduate with Scholastic Distinction upon receiving her Bachelor of Music degree from The Juilliard School in 2013.
