Asia Society Hong Kong Center celebrates the Thanksgiving season with our first-ever rooftop barbecue. Join us in giving thanks and enjoy an afternoon of autumn fun, live music, American delicacies, free flow of wine, beer, lemonade and signature dishes by chef, restaurateur and U.S. Culinary Ambassador Chef Benjamin Ford. Proceeds will go toward supporting Food Angel in programs that help build a sustainable food culture for Hong Kong.
Chef Benjamin Ford is known not only for his creative techniques but also for his innate understanding of the ingredients in his dishes, which celebrate the cycle of life and freshness of the earth. His epicurean journey began after he left the University of Southern California to study in Burgundy, France, where he gained enormous inspiration from the European slow food movement. Chef Ford continued his studies at the California Culinary Academy, and earned his kitchen stripes at distinguished Los Angeles-area institutions: The Farm of Beverly Hills, Opus and Campanile. After his acclaimed Chadwick in Beverly Hills, he decided to return to basics and founded Michelin- and Zagat-recommended Ford's Filling Station in Culver City as the first regional American "gastropub," along with The Spotted Pig in NYC.
Chef Ford has drawn inspiration from his mother, Mary Ford, a fine cook and illustrator, and from his father, actor Harrison Ford, a skilled craftsman and artist of great integrity. A father of two, he served as a Chef Chair for Share Our Strength's Taste of the Nation: Los Angeles, an annual culinary festival benefiting food banks in Los Angeles, with a goal to end childhood hunger in America. Chef Ford has appeared on Iron Chef America, The Today Show, Martha Stewart, After Hours with Daniel Boulud and Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution to teach his sustainable, craft-driven philosophy to cooking. His first cookbook Taming The Feast: Ben Ford's Field Manual to Adventurous Cooking, is planned for 2014, and focuses on adventurous outdoor cooking and festive events.
