SUMMARY:
Asia Society Southern California (ASSC) is seeking an exceptional intern to support the Center’s activities and operations. The intern will be responsible for assisting the staff with programming, special events, and initiatives as well as related marketing and outreach efforts. The intern is also responsible for helping with office operations. The intern will be an integral part of the ASSC team and will play a key role in furthering ASSC’s mission in the region and beyond.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with executing programs including helping with registration, set-up, break-down, and onsite logistics
- Assist with marketing and communications efforts online (e.g., website, e-newsletters, social media) and community outreach efforts
- Monitor the [email protected] inbox and social media platforms
- Conduct research, draft correspondence, create PowerPoint presentations, take meeting notes, write event blurbs and recaps, organize files electronically in Box
- Maintain excellent communication and customer service with external constituencies including donors, special guests, speakers, etc.
- Other duties, as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Candidates should be able to commit to a minimum of 8-10 hours per week for a period of 6 months
- Must be at least a junior in college, a graduate student, or a recent graduate
- Be based in the U.S., as well as have U.S. work authorization
- Must intern at least one day per week in the LA office unless given special approval for remote work
- Availability for events in the evenings and/or weekends may be requested. Events will be in the LA area.
- Full professional proficiency in English
- Proficiency in an Asian language, a plus
- Previous internship experience preferred
- Interest in and knowledge of Asia and AAPI issues desirable
- Strong research, writing, and editing skills with excellent attention to detail
- Desired technical skills:
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Google Suite (Doc, Sheets, Forms)
- Social media marketing tools and graphic design software (i.e. Canva)
- Event Management platforms (i.e. Eventbrite)
