Jorrit Britschgi is the Executive Director of the Rubin Museum of Art in New York, an organization promoting the art and cultures of the Himalayan region to global audiences. He is an historian of Asian art and an experienced museum professional.

Britschgi was appointed as Executive Director of the Rubin Museum in December 2017. Before joining the Rubin, he served as Head of Exhibitions and Publications at the Museum Rietberg in Zurich, Switzerland, where he was manager for the exhibitions program and curated numerous exhibitions. Britschgi also served as publisher of Artibus Asiae, one of the leading scholarly journals in Asian art and archaeology for over a decade.

Jorrit Britschgi graduated from Zurich University with an M.A. in East Asian Art History and Chinese studies (2005) and a Ph.D., with highest honors, in East Asian Art History (2009). He is a 2017 alumni of the Getty Leadership Institute, and shares his expertise in an advisory capacity with other museums and individuals.

Joost Schokkenbroek (moderator) joined the University of Hong Kong’s (HKU) Faculty of Arts as Professor of Museum Studies in August 2023. He has a long career in both the museum sector and academia. Between 1988 and 2023 he held various curatorial and management positions in four different museums covering three continents - lately as Museum Director of the Hong Kong Maritime Museum. Schokkenbroek was Professor of Maritime History and Heritage at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and Adjunct Professor at Simon Fraser University, Vancouver. He is the (co)author of five books and dozens of peer reviewed articles – primarily about (maritime) history, museum-related matters, and the importance of artifacts as sources of knowledge.
