The Japanese Garden, created in the Zen/Chan-禪 tradition, miniaturizes nature into its ‘ideal form’. Scaled down it does not intimidate and therefore can be appreciated and truly grasped. In the modern world the sheer scale, speed and interconnectedness of everything can leave us feeling restless, listless and ironically rather alone.

This interactive session takes guests through a physical journey exploring art, culture and the human experience. Using the beautiful backdrop of the Asia Society’s various spaces, attendees will literally wander through the ideas of perspective, purpose and creativity as they engage in specially designed activities and guided discussions. Starting at the Roof Top Garden and ending at the Miller Theater, the stage will be set for people to improvise solutions for their own lives and identify a way forward in this 'journey of a thousand miles’.
