Little Stones unites the personal narratives of four women around the world using art to create positive change in their communities. The award-winning documentary weaves together the stories of a graffiti artist speaking out against domestic violence in the favelas of Brazil, a dancer rehabilitating sex-trafficking survivors in India, a rapper in Senegal using her music to spark dialogue around the taboo subject of genital mutilation, and a fashion designer in Nairobi who trains and employs impoverished Kenyan women to produce high fashion clothing. Each of these women is contributing a stone to the mosaic of the women’s movement through their art. This 87-minute documentary directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Sophia Kruz has been screened at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, and on Capitol Hill for members of congress, and will be screened for the first time to a Hong Kong audience at Asia Society Hong Kong Center.
