角度 Gok Dou LIVE - Small Talks: Spatial Traces
VIEW EVENT DETAILSWe will uncover our erased spatial traces in this live talk between the fine-artists Ocean Leung, Lam Siu Wing and Law Yuk-Mui. Together they will touch on our relations to history, urban planning, and cityscapes— in their works which observe and intervene in the world of street drifting in Hong Kong — with hidden objects that echo stories of human nature.
Ocean Leung’s artistic practice involves observation and intervention through flaneuring, sometimes working with found images and ready-made objects, so as to explore the interplay between art and its plights. The result appears in the form of object, installation and video, exhibited to accumulate a visual disruption.
Born in 1983, Leung lives in Hong Kong. He graduated from the Department of Fine Arts (BA), The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2006, and obtained a Master of Fine Arts degree (MFA) in 2016 from Graduate School of the same university. Leung is now a high school visual art teacher.
Lam Siu Wing is an artist, urban wanderer, columnist, novelist and actor. She is a video-artist based in Hong Kong who manipulates, looks at and plays with scenes within cities, taking our daily observations and flipping our perspectives on them.
Law Yuk-Mui graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with a Master of Fine Arts (MFA). She is the co-founder of the artist-run organisation Rooftop Institute. Using image, sound and installation as her mediums of preference, and adopting the methodology of field study and collecting, she often intervenes in the mundane space and daily life of the city and catches the physical traces of history, psychological pathways of human, the marks of time and the political power in relation to geographic space.
Join us for this series of behind-the-scenes programs that will allow us to observe the conversations of some of Hong Kong’s finest artists, collectors and curators. Each session is designed to take a peek behind the curtain as the speakers connect, discuss, share thoughts and gather ideas without boundaries. Watch these conversations flow LIVE at the Art Central auditorium.
