Asia Society Hong Kong Center is pleased to announce Evening with Renée Fleming: Art and Wellness, our special dinner program on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Asia Society Hong Kong Center’s Jockey Club Hall.
World-renowned soprano, arts advocate, and Asia Society Global Trustee Renée Fleming is joining us for an intimate evening discussion on her initiative, Music and the Mind, exploring the power of music as it relates to health and the brain. The conversation will be led by Mr. Ronnie C. Chan, Chairman of Asia Society Hong Kong Center and Chairman Emeritus of Asia Society.
Coinciding with the topic of Art and Wellness, Asia Society Hong Kong’s current exhibition, A World Within: The Art and Inspiration of Irene Chou has a special focus on the impact of art and creativity on mental wellness.
The tumultuous times in Hong Kong recently have challenged all of us in numerous ways—and Asia Society Hong Kong is no exception. As such, it is with much disappointment that Asia Society Hong Kong decides to cancel our Annual Gala Dinner scheduled on November 21. But we believe art can unite us; the Center continues to serve as a platform to bring peoples together, welcoming more than 130 groups to our annual community programs ranging from family fairs and wellness days to student tours and public workshops. In effect, Evening with Renée Fleming: Art and Wellness is our invitation to come together and strengthen our bond as a community, and we cordially invite you to sponsor a table at the special dinner program.
Renée Fleming is one of the most acclaimed singers of our time. In 2013, President Obama awarded her America's highest honor for an artist, the National Medal of Arts. She brought her voice to a vast new audience in 2014, as the only classical artist ever to sing the US National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Winner of the 2013 Grammy Award (her fourth) for Best Classical Vocal Solo, Renée has sung for momentous occasions from the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony to the Diamond Jubilee Concert for Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace. In 2008 Renée became the first woman in the 125-year history of the Metropolitan Opera to solo headline an opening night gala.
