Three years ago, Asia Society Hong Kong brought “A Sarawak Adventure in Hong Kong” to our premise to provide the members and public a weekend of cultural fun and delights. Many of the participants still fondly remembered the performances, educational talks, exhibition, and the culinary delights that we all tasted.
In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Asia Society in this heritage site, we have invited our old friends from Sarawak to have a casual catch up with us. Joining us in this online conversation includes Marian Chin, part of the organizer and curator to the festivity fun three years ago. After Hong Kong, her adventure went ahead to Edinburgh, and when the pandemic strikes, she had time at home to think and create this new brand – LIFESPANTREE, which aims to promote “kampung cooks” and provide long shelf life to the traditional heritage food in Sarawak.
Her sister, Agnes Chin, a foodie who loves to share her passion and knowledge of culinary through all the various members’ culinary demonstrations in Asia Society Hong Kong, will join this conversation to share her memories of the culinary delights from Sarawak. She is currently residing in Hong Kong and missing her regular trips to her hometown in Kuching to food and family. This online program provides a good chance for the sisters to catch up and share their growing up memories.
