Join Ned Palmer, author of the much acclaimed A Cheesemonger's History of the British Isles, on a virtual cheese and wine journey, to discover the role different cheeses played in the shaping of British history. The journey starts from pre-historic to the Middle Ages. We gallop into the Industrial Revolution, which is followed by the glorious Victoria Era. The 20th Century brought World Wars but the depression and devastation also encouraged the desire to revive our heritage. Our journey with Ned finishes with an examination of the state of cheese affairs in Britain in the 21st Century, and pays tribute to a new age of artisanal cheesemakers garnering praise and awards.
This program has been designed so that for the price of one ticket, you may invite a few friends to share in the tasting of wine and cheese, with generous portions of cheese and wine for 4 people to share.
The event will be moderated by Ivy Ng of Cheese & Wine HK. Cheese & Wine HK wishes to thank The Cheese House (thecheesehouse.hk) and Watson's Wine for their collaboration in making this event happen.
Ned Palmer runs the Cheese Tasting Company, whose unique events pair cheese with wines, beers, whiskies and history. After studying philosophy, theatre and experimental psychology, he worked as a jazz pianist and hospital porter, before helping out on a stall at Borough Market in South London led him into a life of cheesemongering.
Ivy Ng is an independent wine and cheese educator and writer. She set up the initiative Cheese & Wine HK (https://cheeseandwinehk.com) to promote cheese and wine education and appreciation by collaborating with local and international suppliers of artisanal products. Cheese & Wine HK is an accredited provider of Academy of Cheese Levels 1 and 2 courses in Hong Kong.
