Back Care Yoga with Hazel Chan, Lavina Makhija & Petra Niemi of Andiappan Yoga CommunityVIEW EVENT DETAILS
(English & Cantonese)
This class involves a sequence of yoga postures and alignment techniques that strengthen back muscles and help attain a proper posture, preventing and resolving back problems. The class is specifically designed for travellers and executives who spend long hours sitting in one position and are prone to lower back pain and stiffness.
Hazel Chan is originally from Hong Kong & was living in San Francisco as her second home town where she had her first yoga class, Hazel immediately loved the practice and started taking yoga classes on a regular basis after her return to Hong Kong. She found being away from home tough and very stressful, plus frustrated adapting to the local working culture & lifestyle again. Going to yoga classes seemed to be her only way out in the beginning and later on she started longing for deeper knowledge in yoga which is actually more than only moving the physical body into postures as the most commonly known nowadays. Under the guidance of different traditional yoga masters from India, with Master Yogananth Andiappan as the main master, she obtained her 200hours Yoga Teacher Certificate in 2013 and completed her 300 hours Advanced Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in 2015 in Hong Kong along with the Intensive Advanced Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in Chennai, India. Hazel is now a Yoga Alliance registered RYT 500 teacher. As words are not enough to describe how yoga helps her both physically and mentally, she believes by becoming a yoga teacher would be the best way to share her passion, experience and benefits of yoga to the others.
Lavina Makhija - Yoga has been a big part of Lavina’s life for over 8 years, and her committed daily practice has helped her grow stronger and more flexible and fearless, both on and off the mat. It has inspired her to live each moment of her life more mindfully and in the moment.
She has completed her 200 hours Yoga Teacher Training Course, 300 hours Advanced Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Course, 100 hours Kids Yoga Teacher Training Course, 100 hours Pranayama and Meditation Course with International Yoga Academy, Hong Kong (IYA). She believes she will always be a student of the practice and is deeply grateful for the loving wisdom her masters have shared with her.
In her classes, she likes to combine creative sequencing, a spirit of playfulness and a dose of inspiration to help deepen the practice. She seeks to help others strive to live their lives by nurturing the body, mind and soul with yoga.
Petra Niemi has completed 200 hours Yoga Teacher Training Course, 300 hours Yoga Therapy Course, 300 hours Advanced Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Course and 100 hours Kids Yoga Teacher Training Course with International Yoga Academy, Hong Kong.
