[WEBCAST] Executive Briefing | An Update from Indonesia with H. E. Gary Quinlan AO, Ambassador to Indonesia
VIEW EVENT DETAILSWhat impact will Indonesia’s post-pandemic recovery have on Australia’s own bounce-back?
The Australia-Indonesia relationship is at a critical juncture. With IA-CEPA now in force, a partnership ten years in the making will debut in a world vastly different to the one at its inception. Indonesia’s handling of the pandemic thus far has been criticised, its inconsistent policy response to lockdown measures, low testing rates and an under-resourced healthcare system are contributing to a rapid rise of COVID-19 numbers across the country. Amidst this health uncertainty, Indonesia’s economy is headed for a recession.
Asia Society Australia and Deakin University warmly invite you to a member-only update from Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E. Gary Quinlan AO. As we forge ahead with this landmark economic partnership, Mr Quinlan will outline the current state of play for the archipelago in the face of COVID-19, and highlight opportunities to adapt and strengthen the Indonesia-Australia relationship in light of new policy developments. With the recent announcement of Australia’s Partnerships for Recovery aid policy, does Prime Minister Morrison’s 2018 statement “Indonesia's success is our success” still ring true in this pandemic era?
