A discussion of the factors behind China's rapid digitisation
Asia Society Australia and McKinsey & Company warmly invite you to join McKinsey Global Institute Director, Dr. Jonathan Woetzel, for a lunchtime Executive Briefing on China’s Digital Economy and the new multinationals powering it. Drawn from the recently released McKinsey report ‘China’s Digital Economy: powering the economy to global competitiveness’, Dr Woetzel will explain the three factors behind China's rapid digitisation:
- 731 million internet users enable rapid commercialisation on a large scale
- Well capitalised digital giants are building a digital ecosystem
- Government regulation is making room for innovators to thrive
At the forefront of this digitisation are four companies, now global household names (Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent and JD.com). They are disrupting traditional industries, increasing China’s global competitiveness and redefining value chains worldwide. With plans to continue to expand their digital and real footprint globally, what does the future of retail, banking, logistics and data look like led by this new breed of digital multinational?
Date: Monday, 5 March
Time: 12.00 -2.00pm
