Fritz Demopoulos Joins Asia Society Board of Trustees

This past week in Hong Kong, the Asia Society global board of trustees announced the addition of Fritz Demopoulos from the inaugural class of 2006 to the board along with two other new members.
Per the announcement, "Fritz Demopoulos has been involved in a number of entrepreneurial and philanthropic activities within the Asian region over the past two decades. He is passionate about establishing businesses and creative disruption, exploring the ideas behind science and science fiction, and contributing to his community through education and gender equality. Fritz is a long-term resident of Hong Kong with his wife and two daughters.
Since 1997 Fritz has been involved in an array of digital ventures in Mainland China. He co-founded Qunar, one of China’s largest online travel marketplaces, and Shawei, one of China’s largest digital sports media companies. Fritz also held senior executive positions at The News Corporation and Netease.
Fritz and his wife Elaine co-founded The Queen’s Road Foundation, a non-profit foundation focused on supporting experimental theatre, the study of science, science fiction, and gender equality. In 2017 the foundation established Melon, one of Asia’s leading sci-fi conferences that explores the worlds of both Chinese and western science fiction.
An avid supporter of the UCLA Bruins, Fritz is on the Board of Advisors at the UCLA Center for Management of Enterprise in Media, Entertainment and Sports and UCLA's School of Earth, Planetary and Space Sciences.
A native of Southern California, Fritz earned an MBA at UCLA and a BA at California State University, Fullerton. He also studied at the University of Heidelberg in Germany and the Chinese University of Hong Kong."
