Global Education for a Global World
VIEW EVENT DETAILSEducation systems worldwide are striving not only to overcome achievement gaps but also to teach critical knowledge and skills to prepare students for work, life, and citizenship in a global 21st century. What knowledge and skills must students develop to be successful in an interconnected world? What do employers look for in hiring in this global environment? What are the different educational strategies being employed to meet these challenges? How can educational technologies help bridge the gap and how are they balanced and combined with instructional strategies?
Using Shanghai and its remarkable accomplishments as a case study, the Asia Society brings together thought leaders in education, business, academia, and government to deliberate on the skills students need in today’s global environment and how best to provide them. The event is being held in conjunction with Asia Society Northern California's 11th Annual Dinner on May 12, Education in a Global Era: The U.S.-Asia Connection.
This program is produced in conjunction with the Asia Society's Education department. The department's mission is to develop students' and young leaders' global competence as the foundation for understanding between people in the Asia Pacific region and throughout the world.
