Ambassador Hazem Fahmy Started his career in 1987 at the Egyptian MFA. He served at the Egyptian mission to the European Union in Brussels (1991-1995), the Foreign Minister’s Cabinet (1995-1998), at the Egyptian Permanent Mission to the United Nations (1998-2003).
At the UN, he was elected Vice President for Africa on the Executive Board of UNDP (2001), Vice Chairman for Africa on the Bureau overseeing the preparatory process of the International Conference on Financing for Development ICFFD (Monterrey 2002), and “Rapporteur General” of ICFFD.
He was seconded to the UN Secretariat (2003-2014); at the Financing for Development Office and at the Executive Office of the Secretary General
On the first of July 2014 Ambassador Fahmy was appointed as the first Secretary-General of the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development,
He has a B.A. in Economics from the American University in Cairo (1986), a M.A. in Public Administration from Harvard University (1990), a MPhil Economics form the New School University (2007) and a PHD in Economics from the New School University (2011).
