Asia Society Hong Kong Center is in collaboration with Hong Kong String Orchestra to organize a chamber music concert series, featuring our young local artists on a weekly basis. Audiences could experience the musical fruits of their full dedication through a programming, ranging from Romantic period to the modern. It will be an intimate, up-close setting for a 45-minute music journey. Welcome all to bring lunchtime sandwich, expresso and come with friends and colleagues to enjoy a fine music interlude for a Happy Friday.
Francis Chik is a rising performer who touches the audience’s hearts with his passionate playing. Francis obtained his Master of Arts degree from the Royal Academy of Music in London, and was awarded the Roth Prize for Violin Finalists for his exceptional performance in the final recital. He obtained his Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music, where he was awarded the Performer’s Certificate. He has also studied at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
Martin Kuo went to the music class of Kaohsiung Municipal Kaohsiung Senior High School, majoring in violin and minoring in piano performance. In 2016, Martin was awarded a full scholarship at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and CICA Summer Music Festival in Dallas, Texas in 2012, where he was the winner of the concerto competition there. He was also the winner of the concerto competition at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
Caleb Wong established himself as a finalist of the Washington International Competitions and the Generation Next Arts Competition. Caleb has made himself an active chamber musician in the United States, Europe and Asia. He was the violist of the Artist in Residence Chamber Ensemble at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2010 in his piano quintet. He then played in the Alpensia Quartet sponsored by Artsylvia Foundation in South Korea.
Cheng Yan Ho graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and the Jacobs School of Music of Indiana University with a Master degree in Cello Performance under the guidance of Peter Stumpf and Brandon Vamos . He has played in the masterclass of Gregory Beaver, Johannes Moser, Li-Wei Qin and studied with Thomas Landschoot and Felix Wang in other occasions.
Hong Kong String Orchestra
Founded by Virtuoso Yao Jue BBS, JP., Hong Kong String Orchestra (HKSO) has achieved significant recognition locally and internationally for its “music uniqueness fusing Eastern and Western influences”. HKSO strives to expand musical horizon and promote new music, since its establishment, it has become a string orchestra with the best local strings elites in Hong Kong. Since 2013, the Orchestra has been enjoyed successful artistic collaborations with array of international musicians and groups, including Tan Dun, Sarah Chang, Qin Li-wei, Hayley Westenra, David Ehrlich, Andrés Cárdenes, Jay Liu, Suk Chamber Orchestra etc.
