Watch Out for Credit Stress and Global Trends

HONG KONG, October 24, 2014 — How to turn your investment from dumb money to smart money? In this evening lecture centered on the economic game of credits and inventory cycles, Kiril Sokoloff, the Founder and Chairman of 13D Research, and Lewis Johnson, the Co-Founder and President of Fundamental Global Investors shared their insights and unique perspective on the market.

Judging the situation right now, Lewis Johnson analysed that the market is experiencing a fall in commodity prices, a rise in credit stress, and a decrease in the industrial production. With these warning signs of a possible cycle, Johnson addressed the importance of identifying such cycles in the investing world.

After the heavy warnings delivered by Johnson, the program followed a dialogue between Kiril Sokoloff and Ronnie Chan, the Chairman of Hang Lung Properties. Sokoloff shared his observations that the generation of the millennials have become more conservative with their investments, the importance of the commodity of gold and most significantly to be aware of the signs of credit stress. The discussion then moved on to global relations, particularly the behaviour of the United States in its foreign relations and economic exchanges with other countries, and what White House can do to prevent further social unrest both internally and externally.
