HONG KONG, October 16, 2014 — In its debut at the Asia Society Hong Kong Center, the Asia Society Kai-Yin Lo Distinguished Programs presented an evening dialogue with John Howkins, a creativity and innovation pioneer, Yat Siu, the founder and CEO of Outblaze, Chan Koonchung, cultural critic and author, and last but not least, international designer Ms. Kai-Yin Lo herself. Ada Wong, the ex-District Councilor of Wanchai, moderated the discussion.

The Series was opened by Ms. Susie Ho, the Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development (Communications and Technology) of the HKSAR Government. “It is creativity that connects Hong Kong with people around the world and underlines the vibrancy and diversity of our city,” remarked Ms. Ho, and marked the significance of the creative industry in Hong Kong with its generation of HK$98 billion a year and speedy growth.

From addressing Hong Kong’s role as a hub for the flow of information, the interplay of hard and soft power in the creative industry, Hong Kong’s culture and identity, to the discussion of creative potential, the four speakers gave great insight on the capital use and possibilities of creative industries.
