Staging of 'Finding Alice'
HONG KONG, July 27, 2014 — Engaging 13 musicians and 12 creatives, Finding Alice, a multimedia, classical music presentation of the original children's classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, was staged at ASHK's Landscape Terrace today. ASHK worked in partnership with Music for Community (MfC) in putting together two free-entry performances with the aim to make music accessible to everyone.
The afternoon children's concert, held at 5pm was opened by Ms. Florence Hui, Under Secretary for Home Affairs of the Hong Kong SAR Government. Narrated in Cantonese, the concert was attended by a full-house audience of young people and their families invited through NGOs including Po Leung Kuk, New Home Association, The Boys' & Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong, and Hong Chi Association. A special evening concert, narrated in English, was put together exclusively for Asia Society members and friends of MfC at 7:00 pm, another full-house show.
"That was quite lovely ... it makes me miss concerts in parks — there are just so few venues in Hong Kong that are intimate with a garden backdrop," commented one Asia Society member.
