HONG KONG, May 14, 2014 — Tracing both the traditions and transformations of Chinese ink painting, Asia Society Hong Kong Center brought together three pioneers in the field — Chinese artists Liu Guosong and Wucius Wong and photographer Michael Cherney — to discuss how each innovates in his own way in creating new forms of Chinese ink art.

Moderated by Tina Pang, curator of M+, the luncheon panel discussion revolved around the three artists' work, with each expressing his point of view on the art of ink painting. While Liu compared drawing techniques to writing characters, Wong talked about being inspired by the growth of buildings in Hong Kong. Cherney, on a different note, explained how photography connects viewers and the physical world.
