For many years people from all over the world have sought knowledge of the unseen and want an insight into their future. This may be in the form of palm reading, casting horoscopes, crystal ball gazing, reading tea leaves or rattling bones. But how about through having your face analysed by a face reader? In modern day Korea, the value of the face is becoming increasingly important and can have a strong impact on your life and future; leading to more and more Koreans turning to face readers to see how their face will reveal their fate. Many Koreans believe, or the society makes them believe, that good-looking people have better jobs or are offered better opportunities. In a recent PRI article from Korea based journalist Jason Strother, traditional face reader Park Sang-jun said that "If you see Warren Buffet's nose, it's very high and has a lot of fat around it. That type of nose brings good luck and can make a person wealthy.” So how much of an impact can your face have on your future and can plastic surgery change ones future? As a recent article in The New Yorker pointed out, "South Koreans do not merely brood about their physiognomy, they put their money where their mouths—and eyes and noses—used to be."
