An Economist In The Real World
VIEW EVENT DETAILSKaushik Basu, in his book An Economist in the Real World-The Art of Policymaking in India recounts his time as the Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India and talks about the multifaceted challenges facing India. From a personal perspective, Basu uniquely describes his experience of working in a non-hypothetical world of deal-making and issues when addressing fiscal and monetary policies, access to food, globalisation, anti-poverty programmes, and problems of corruption. Policy making integrates technical knowledge with political awareness. Will India exhibit this knowledge and awareness and incorporate smart reforms that will allow the country to enter a high growth path?
