Video: Rising Above - The Kinsey African American Art & History Collection
HONG KONG, December 9, 2017 – Bernard and Shirley Kinsey, and their son and curator of the Kinsey Collection Khalil Kinsey shared their personal stories of collecting of African American cultural objects and artworks, which started over thirty years go. The collection consisted of paintings, sculptures and documents, dating from the 17th century to the civil rights era. The Kinsey Collection “is a collection where art and history intersect documenting African American experience,” said Bernard Kinsey, made its first international debut at HKU from December 12, 2016 to February 26, 2017.
