HONG KONG, September 28, 2009 - More than 600 guests arrived at the Grand Hyatt Hotel for the Asia Society Hong Kong Center's 2009 Annual Dinner. The gala event attracted local luminaries from the worlds of politics and finance, and the featured speaker was Professor Nassim Nicholas Taleb, the contrarian intellectual whose book The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable has been a worldwide bestseller translated into several languages. Nassim's talk, "The Elephant in the Room is Still There," delivered a stinging critique of both the global banking industry and the US government's response to the worldwide financial meltdown.
