Hanukkah Family Workshop
HONG KONG, November 30, 2014 - Designed in accordance to our current exhibition on the Dead Sea Scrolls, "Let's Learn About Hanukkah!" Family Workshop featured fun activities and an exhibition tour designed for local families to learn more about Hanukkah at Asia Society Hong Kong Center.
Beginning with a short lesson about the origin of Hanukkah, families were then led to the gallery for a short tour. Children were asked to observe patterns on ossuaries, create patterns of their own on jars, and practice writing their English name in Hebrew alphabets. After the activities in the gallery, families then engaged in decorating sevinons, a Jewish top played in dreidel games, and mini ceramic oil jars. The family workshop ended with a sweet treat – Chanukah donuts – ordered from the Jewish Community Center in Hong Kong, and families got to enjoy both strawberry jam and chocolate flavoured donuts.
