Euro-centric worldview on Art in the New World
HONG KONG, 9th October, 2015 - Adriana Varejão, one of the most important female artists in the Americas today, shared her insights in the interesting connection between the development of art in the two "new world" countries: China and Brazil to Europe. For example, she seamlessly combines scenes found in traditional Chinese ink paintings with Baroque churches and monasteries from the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. Dennis Carr, curator of American Decorative Arts at the Musuem of Fine Arts Boston joined the discussion by providing a historical view of the themes touched on by Varejão in this evening conversation.
