Chinese Railroad Workers in North America
HONG KONG, November 17, 2013 – Almost 150 years ago, tens of thousands of Chinese workers were introduced to North America to build the transcontinental railroad and their contributions to the development the United States and Canada started to be recognized in recent years. As mentioned by Professor Shelley Fishkin of Stanford University, although no single letter from the Chinese worked was kept, their history and stories deserve to be told.
