Virtual Classroom Video
This online speaking assessment activity was taken from Catherine Zhong’s Chinese class at Little Red School House and Elisabeth Irwin High School in New York. The class has six 12th graders in a remote learning setting.
In this TEQ Online video, you will see how Miss Zhong used a teacher interview on Zoom to replace student-student role play when she assessed the speaking component of a unit. You will also see how enthusiastically the students responded to the interview task. The teacher interview is an excellent way to assess students’ speaking performance if the class size is not big. The teacher also gave written feedback and chatted with the students after the interview as follow-ups to improve students' learning and enhance the teacher-student relationship.
Your comments and feedback are always highly appreciated. Please tell us your thoughts after you watch these videos.
