Connecting to a Global Future

At a time when communication between Chinese and Americans is more important than ever, nearly 1,300 teachers, administrators, policymakers and exhibitors from across the U.S. and seven other countries conveyed at the 12th annual National Chinese Language Conference. The three-day conference was hosted by the Asia Society and the College Board from May 9–11, 2019 in San Diego, California.

Over the course of three days, educators participated in more than 120 workshops and presentations, visited schools across the greater San Diego area, and enjoyed engaging plenary sessions and performances. The conference built up a mutual platform for diverse participants to share insights and best practices in teaching and learning Mandarin. Further, it explored how Chinese language programs and study abroad opportunities are shaping a new generation of American youths who are ready to face the challenges and seize the opportunities of a dynamic and global economy.
