On February 27, 2020, the New Zealand Government announced the launch of the Digital Council for Aotearoa New Zealand, an independent, advisory body of experts that will advise the government on "how to maximise the societal benefits of digital and data-driven technologies to increase equality and inclusivity, wellbeing and community resilience." 

Asia 21 Young Leader Mitchell Pham from the Class of 2008 will serve as the inaugural chair of this six-member council, and Nikora Ngaropo from the Class of 2019 will serve as one of the six expert members.
