Dynamic Leaders, Striving Economies and America’s Choice

Asia Society Southern California continues our Forecast Asia series, with a conversation among three global thinkers about the new, strong leaders in Asia – India’s Narendra Modi, Japan’s Shinzo Abe, China’s Xi Jinping and Indonesia’s Joko Widodo.  Join Eurasia Group President Ian Bremmer, Mitchell R. Julis, Co-Chairman and Co-CEO of Canyon Partners, and Nicolas Berggruen, Chairman of the Berggruen Institute, to get their insights on what these leaders' economic plans herald for growth and regional stability and how America should engage them. Bremmer's latest book, Superpower: Three Choices for America’s Role in the World, will be available for purchase at the event.

Nicolas Berggruen is the Chairman of the Berggruen Institute, a political think-tank. He is also the Chairman of Berggruen Holdings, a private company, which is the investment vehicle of The Nicolas Berggruen Charitable Foundation. Through the Berggruen Institute, he encourages the study, design and implementation of systems of good governance. Mr. Berggruen is co-author with Nathan Gardels of Intelligent Governance for the 21st Century: A Middle Way Between East and West.

Ian Bremmer is the president and founder of Eurasia Group, the leading global political risk research and consulting firm. He is a prolific thought leader and author, regularly expressing his views on political issues in public speeches, television appearances, and top publications, including Time magazine, where he is the foreign affairs columnist and editor-at-large. Dubbed the "rising guru" in the field of political risk by the Economist, he teaches classes on the discipline as a global research professor at New York University. More>>

Mitchell R. Julis is Co-Founder, Co-Chairman and Co-CEO of Canyon Partners LLC, a leading global alternative asset management firm headquartered in Los Angeles.
