The U.S. and 13 other leading trading partners have been negotiating the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) for the past year, with the hope of achieving breakthroughs and deliverables on key issues alongside the APEC Summit in San Francisco. Meaningful outcomes were achieved on the Commerce “pillars” of work, but the trade pillar lags behind and faces important challenges.
