Join these leading figures from government, industry and the social sector, in a discussion on how we can strengthen systems of public accountability and efficiency, while meeting the imperatives of growth. How can we best bolster democratic institutions and guide corporate culture, maneuvering through industry lobbying, coalition politics and bureaucratic government structures? How can we learn from the experience of other countries, from developed to developing, from capitalist to socialist, and from democratic to communist?
Vinod Rai is the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, a position through which he has brought to public attention irregularities ranging from the 2G spectrum scam to the Commonwealth Games scam. His previous position was Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, where he was responsible for managing the Financial Services sector, including banks and insurance companies. In the international arena, his responsibilities include membership of the U.N. Panel of External Auditors and of the Governing Board of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). He also has the responsibility, as chair, of steering the INTOSAI Working Group on IT Audit and the Knowledge Sharing Committee. He is a member of the Governing Board of the Asian Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI).
Adi Godrej is Chairman of the Godrej Group, and the President of the Confederation of Indian Industry. He is Chairman of the Board of the Indian School of Business, member of the Dean’s Advisory Council of the MIT Sloan School of Management, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies and a member of the Wharton Asian Executive Board. He is a recipient of several awards and recognitions including the Rajiv Gandhi Award 2002 and the Entrepreneur of the Year for the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards 2010. Mr. Godrej holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the Sloan School of Management at MIT.
Dr. Nachiket Mor is a Yale World Fellow; has a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania with a specialization in Finance from the Wharton School and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He has worked with ICICI from 1987 to 2007, and was a member of its Board of Directors from 2001 to 2007. He set up the ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth and served as its founding President. He is now the Chairman of the Boards of Sughavazhvu Health Care, CARE India and IFMR Trust and is closely involved in the evolution of these three organizations. He is currently also an independent member of other Boards including CRISIL; IKP Trust; IKP Centre for Technologies in Public Health; and IKP Centre for Advancement in Agricultural Practice.
