VIEW EVENT DETAILS2015 Asia Week San Francisco Bay Area Symposium
Asia Society of Northern California, in partnership with NanHai Art Gallery, is pleased to present the 2015 Asia Week San Francisco Bay Area (AW-SFBA) Symposium: Asian Art in the Contemporary World as the launch event to this year’s Asia Week. Every year Asia Week San Francisco Bay Area brings together Asian art dealers, auction houses, museums, cultural institutions, and academia for a week of festivities celebrating Asian art and culture.
The two-part symposium will feature scholars, curators, dealers, and collectors, distinguished in their own fields, coming together for an informative and interactive discussion on contemporary Asian art, the art market, and the skill of collecting art. Panel one, Continuity and Innovation: Art Across Asia Now, will focus on trends in contemporary Asian art, and will provide an inside look at how scholars and museum curators research, publish, and curate contemporary exhibitions on Asian art.
Devoted to examining art from the perspective of marketing and collecting, panel two, The Wild, Wild East: Collecting and the Asian Art Market, will explore how the world of Asian art has been formed through art transactions, curation, museum exhibitions, and art fairs. It will also examine the new development of internet sales.
