MUMBAI, December 14, 2018: Asia Society India Centre was delighted to host the eighth annual Opening Night Celebration Dinner for the Times Litfest 2018. Each year the dinner, which takes place on the eve of Mumbai’s biggest literature festival, brings together international authors, participating writers, promient scholars and leaders from Mumbai’s literary and cultural community for a night of dinner, drinks and banter. This year, to follow the theme of the festival, Waternamah, the dinner featured an engaging discussion between Ahdaf Soueif, Author and Political & Cultural Commentator and Manu Pillai, Author that explored the maritime ties between ancient Egypt and Malabar coast. Notable guests in attendance included Beau Taplin, Poet, Bachi Karkaria and Namita Devidayal, Founders and Organisers of the Times Litfest, Nandita Das, Director and Actor and many others. The dinner took place at The Taj Lands End Hotel in Bandra, Mumbai.
