Imagine Mumbai: In Search of New Ground
VIEW EVENT DETAILSMumbai is the inaugural symposium of our new series 'In Search of New Ground', the third in our three-year global conversation programme on delivering tomorrow's cities together. By 2060, 70% of the world's population is expected to be living in cities and hence, Imagine 2060 in 2019 is focusing on the element that facilitates all growth - Land. For fast-growing metropolis and cities in India, like Mumbai, development, and sustainability have to be efficiently balanced with civic challenges like unplanned infrastructure, waste management and public health concerns. While large scale infrastructure megaprojects will transform mobility and connectivity and expand the city space, they undeniably present alternate and significant challenges to the environment. How can we produce future land capacity to accommodate the infrastructure needed to absorb the continuing influx, while also ensuring holistic, forward-looking and sustainable approaches? How can affordable housing and sanitation, focused on nurturing human capital be ensured in mega-cities of India? How can policies be designed to ensure growth and sustainability? What are some of the lessons India can draw from places like Singapore and Hong Kong in urban planning and environmental planning?
Join us to Imagine Mumbai as we bring together leaders in urban development and policy to discuss global best practices and connect with a common goal - imagining a long-term vision for cities in India.
