Since 2008, Asia Society’s education department and the College Board have co-organized the National Chinese Language Conference, which was established in order to help policymakers and educators share best practices in teaching Mandarin Chinese. It is the largest annual convening in North America of leaders and practitioners in the field of Chinese language and culture education. In this photo from the seventh annual conference in Los Angeles on May 8, 2014, students from Riverview International Academy put on a performance in Mandarin.
Each week for "Throwback Thursday" (#TBT), we'll reach into our archives to find a photo from the organization's nearly 60-year history. Some photos will feature important moments, some will feature important people, and others still will just be photos we love. Do you have an Asia Society photo you'd like us to consider including in this series? Please email the photo and any related details to [email protected] (we regret that we won't be able to respond directly to each inquiry).
