LOS ANGELES, April 23, 2016 — After the 2016 Oscars featured stereotypical jokes directed toward Asians, two dozen Academy members of Asian descent wrote a letter to Academy leaders expressing their dismay. In this clip, taken from a panel discussion which was part of the Conference for Creative Content at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, actor George Takei shares a personal story from his childhood where stereotyping landed his family in internment camps.
