Forecast Asia: Dynamic Leaders, Striving Economies and America’s Choice

Two Asia Society Trustees, Nicolas Berggruen and Mitchell Julis, as well as Eurasia Group President Ian Bremmer, headlined Asia Society Southern California's April 30 Forecast Asia program, Dynamic Leaders Striving Economies and America’s Choice. It was a fascinating discussion about how the strong leaders of Asia’s three biggest economies – China, Japan and India – will influence the economic and geopolitical outlook. But the speakers ranged far wider than these three men and countries. They literally spanned the globe to debate impact of China’s global economic strategy, the absence of an American strategy, questions of effective governance, and even a bold prediction by Bremmer, that in 10 years: “Iran will probably be a closer friend of the U.S. than Saudi Arabia is.”
