[WEBCAST] SCMP China Conference: United States
VIEW EVENT DETAILSSouth China Morning Post Virtual Conference
After a phase one trade deal brought a tinge of optimism to the U.S.-China relationship back in January, a confluence of issues and events throughout 2020 have compounded to pull relations between the two superpowers to their lowest levels in decades. While blame-games over responsibility for the global COVID-19 pandemic set the foundation for several months of acrimony, the two countries have been entangled in myriad disputes over global governance, technology exchange, supply chains, immigration policies, and human rights. While the leaders of the world’s two largest economies continue to offer sharply different visions of the current international order, is it at all possible for meaningful cooperation to be unearthed between them, or are relations on course to devolve even further?
