Building Economic Resilience and Security in the Indo-Pacific Post G7 Hiroshima Summit
VIEW EVENT DETAILSIn response to an array of global challenges such as climate change, geopolitical tensions, and pandemics, G7 leaders convened in Hiroshima in May 2023 and issued a pivotal Statement on Economic Resilience and Economic Security. This comprehensive declaration identifies seven crucial areas of vulnerability demanding sustained attention for international security and economic stability, including building resilient supply chains, addressing economic coercion, countering harmful practices in the digital sphere, and preventing leakage of critical and emerging technologies.
Since last May, G7 members have undertaken a number of individual and collective actions to implement the G7 commitments. To delve into the progress made and discuss the necessary further steps, the Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI) invites you to participate in an engaging discussion. The event will feature distinguished speakers, including Tatsuya Terazawa, Chairman and CEO of the Institute of Energy Economics, Japan; Matt Goodman, Distinguished Fellow for global economic policy and Director of the Greenberg Center for Geoeconomic Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations; and Hosuk Lee-Makiyama, Director of the European Centre for International Political Economy. The discussion will be moderated by Wendy Cutler, ASPI Vice President.
