The Washington International Trade Association (WITA), in partnership with the Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI), invite you to join a webinar focusing on the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on ports, logistics, and global supply chains, as well as the implications for global trade.
The panel discussion will feature Ralph Carter, Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, FedEx Corporation, Phil Levy, Chief Economist, Flexport, and Curtis Robinhold, Executive Director, Port of Portland. It will be moderated by Wendy Cutler, Vice President & Managing Director of Washington D.C. Office, Asia Society Policy Institute.
SPEAKERS
Ralph Carter is Vice President for Regulatory Affairs at FedEx Corporation where he coordinates and leads FedEx's global regulatory affairs activities relating to aviation, customs, security, export controls, trade negotiations and economic policy. Before joining FedEx, he worked at the U.S. Department of State, as Special Assistant to the U.S. Ambassador to the EU where he advised the Ambassador on trade and international economic issues. Carter received his BS and JD from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and his LLM from American University.
Dr. Phil Levy is Chief Economist at Flexport where he leads qualitative and quantitative economic research informed by public policy data and proprietary data. Prior to joining Flexport, Dr. Levy served as Senior Fellow on the Global Economy at Chicago Council on Global Affairs and Adjunct Professor of Strategy at Northwestern Kellogg. Previously, Dr. Levy served on the President’s Council of Economic Advisers as Senior Economist for Trade and as a member of the policy planning staff for the U.S. Department of State. Levy holds a Ph.D in Economics from Stanford University.
Curtis Robinhold is the Executive Director of the Port of Portland where he oversees the vision and operation of marine terminals, airports and business parks. Before beginning work with the Port of Portland, he was chief of staff to Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber, where he oversaw the governor’s policy agenda, staff and policy advisors. He was also CEO of an energy efficiency finance company in Portland, and managing director of BP Alternative Energy’s global gas-fired power business.
Wendy Cutler is Vice President of ASPI and Managing Director of its Washington, D.C. office. She joined ASPI following nearly three decades as a diplomat and negotiator in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR). Most recently, she served as Acting Deputy U.S. Trade Representative, working on a range of U.S. trade negotiations and initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region. In that capacity she was responsible for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement, including the bilateral negotiations with Japan.
