On Wednesday, November 28, 2018, the Asia Society Northern California hosted an event with the USC Shoah Foundation screening The Girl and the Picture.  Attendees included Asia Society Northern California members as well as members from the Chinese Historical Society of America. The film, a documentary about the Nanjing Massacre, was a deeply human portrait of resilience and remembrance.  Filmmaker Vanessa Roth joined Asia Society Northern California Advisory Board Member Buck Gee as well as the Shoah Foundation's Andi Gitow to discuss the film after the credits rolled, speaking about the origins of the film and taking questions from the audience.
