July 20, 2023 - Asia Society Northern California and Asia Society Seattle hosted the virtual panel APEC 301: What’s Happening in Seattle? Conversation with the Seattle APEC Host Committee. Panelists included Karin Zaugg Black (International Business Protocol Liaison for the Port of Seattle), Stacey Jehlik (International Affairs Director, City of Seattle), Alex Parle (Executive Vice President, National Center for APEC; Executive Director, APEC Business Advisory Council), and Greg Wong (Deputy Mayor of External Relations, City of Seattle). The event was moderated by Edward Alden (Ross Distinguished Visiting Professor, Western Washington University; Bernard L. Schwartz Senior Fellow, Council on Foreign Relations). Deputy Mayor Greg Wong delivered the keynote address. Following the address, the panel answered questions from the audience. Panelists elaborated on topics including which Washington industries will benefit from the upcoming APEC meetings and what an envisioned successful APEC visit looks like for the city of Seattle.
