Traditional Chinese Paintings
VIEW EVENT DETAILSA rare opportunity to view a dozen paintings from the most famous traditional Chinese artists, including Qi Baishi's (1864-1957) traditional-style painting, Zhang Daqian's (1899-1983) meticulous work on the Dunhuang Cave style bodhisattva, the first Chairman of China's Central Art Academy Xu Beihong's (1895-1953) famous horse, and Li Keran's buffalo.
Tony Dai is a leading expert in Chinese paintings, antiques, and art investments. Born in Shanghai and an artist himself, Dai learned Chinese painting and calligraphy and won second prize in the Junior National Calligraphy Competition in China. He later turned his talent to collecting, and when the Dai family immigrated to Australia, ran his family's private art gallery in Sydney. In the past five years, Dai has run a gallery of Chinese antiques and art in New York City. He is the Founding President of Australia Chinese Cultural and Art Association, and an art critic for several international newspapers and magazines.
Dai will provide a complimentary appraisal of guests' collections of Chinese paintings/antiques of jade, ivory, porcelain, and bronze during the opening reception on April 20. The exhibition will run from April 20 to May 21.
Gan-Yin Liu, a classical pianist from the Republic of China, will accent the evening with a medley of classical and Asian music.
