Memorial Concert to Celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore: First Asian to Win Nobel Prize in Literature
VIEW EVENT DETAILSThe Sigur Center for Asian Studies and Asia Society proudly present a concert commemorating the life and works of Asia's first Nobel Prize winner in Literature, Sir Rabindranath Tagore.
Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) was a poet, philosopher, academician, composer, visionary, and much more. His body of work includes 12 novels, 3,000 poems, and 2,025 songs in addition to innumerable short stories, essays, letters and plays. Sir Tagore became the first Asian to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913.
In honor of the 150 years since Rabindranath Tagore's birth, this memorial concert will feature four talented artistes performing traditional Indian music. They are Sudeshna Basu (vocal/harmonium), Debu Nayak (tabla), Jeff Bauer (piano), and Nishta Raj (violin).
