Join Asia Society and Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars for a discussion focusing on grassroots NGOs in China, examining environmental and energy governance trends in China. The presentation features journalist Liu Jianqiang, who will talk about China's evolving environmental movement and researcher Tim Hildebrandt, who will discuss his research examining the relationship of the Chinese government and NGOs in three issue areas: environmental protection, HIV/AIDS prevention, and gay and lesbian rights. Jennifer Turner, the Director of China Environment Forum in Woodrow Wilson Center will chair the discussion. These anecdote-rich presentations will offer fascinating insights into on-the-ground civil society trends in China.
