Caroline Kennedy Visits Asia Society (Complete)
NEW YORK, Feb. 12, 2016 — The U.S. Ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy visited Asia Society on Thursday and toured the museum's just-opened exhibition, Kamakura: Realism and Spirituality in the Sculpture of Japan. In addition to Kennedy, Asia Society President and CEO Josette Sheeran, Asia Society Co-Chair Henrietta H. Fore, and Consul General of Japan in New York Reiichiro Takahashi also delivered remarks. Later, Kennedy, Sheeran, and Takahashi participated in a traditional kagami-biraki ceremony, where they broke open a sake barrel with wooden mallets. (19 min., 20 sec.)
