President Barack Obama's first state visit to Beijing could open a new era in United States's relations with China. As the two biggest economies in the world, the relationship is notoriously fragile.

Activists are calling on the US to take a tougher line with China on human rights, but there are also a range of other issues that call for US-China cooperation, including trade and protectionism, market access, and climate change.

What do you think is the most important issue President Obama will discuss with Chinese President Hu?

i think the most important thing that barack obama does is to help our communitty and make it a better place..
The USA should not talk too much about human rights. The US have a bad human rights track record. Recent records of rendition, torture to human rights violations of the lao people from unexploded mines to agent orange- these are international Human Rights violations. Domestically-The imprisonment of young children ( tender minds) for life ( ridicilous and primitive-unheard of in a civilized world!) and the use of illegal immigrant labor. As for the latter everyone internationally knows that the USA on the one hand demands that the illegals working leave the USA and on the other hand close one eye, so that the illegals do most of the work in the USA. They are allowed to do so because the illegals are not paid proper wages, exploited and dont have any medical benefits-the Human Right to HEALTH, EMPLOYMENT and a PROPER LIVELYHOOD is literally non-existent. But the companies hiring these people and making tons of money and paying taxes to the US government. Who picks all the fruit in California-who will want to build the wall that prevents immigrants from crossing the border-illegal immigrants, definately not Americans! So unless the USA cleans its won backyard best not talk too much about China.Mind you I am not supporting China's human rights record. They by their ommission to regulate industry have killed thousands of their own including children. I think when you are a DEBTOR , common sense must prevail!
Agreed,"So unless the USA cleans its won backyard best not talk too much about China." But a lot of Americans apply this logic when debating human rights: We don't deny the fact that we do have human rights violations in America, and we know we need to fix it. However, that doesnt mean we don't have right to finger point what you do wrong. Because, as a matter of fact, wrong=need to be criticized, no matter in US or in China. US doesn't have the same philosophy as China's. China thinks this way: "it's non of your business, why would you care?" and "How could you criticize me when you do the same thing? We don't do that to you!" US thinks this way: "I think I should save all human kinds." and "I criticize about anything wrong no matter who did it. China? US? Russia? Mexico? We don't care who you are. We only care what has been done." China needs leaders who can connect with westerns and understand western cultures. The present leadership still are the second generation since Mao. Their education in early age was extremely "red". It's hard to change the mentality. They know they need to keep up with the world and accept the fact that China needs to be reformed. But they are still not open, or modern, enough to make a big commitment. China's leadership will be dramatically changed in next 30 or 40 years, when the generations born after 80's became the backbone of Chinese society. They have much different values than older generations who worshiped Mao when grew up.
I think the most important thing is to agree to work together with trust and confidence. This is important because I think both leaders are revolutionary in their thoughts-that only peace, dialogue and co-operation will make both countries prosper.China needs the USA and vice versa.Peace between the big nations will lead to better global planing and this will tricle down topolicies expected by other nations.USA and China should be united!
